Death of Father Kelly, Newport The death took place on Friday of Rev. Patrick Vincent Kelly, youngest son of Mr. M.D. Kelly, ex. Co. C., Mill House, Newport after a long and trying illness borne with strong Christian resignation. Educated at St. Jarlath's and Maynooth. Since his ordination in 1939 Father Kelly, who was in his 30th year, had been an invalid and his death was a happy release indeed welcome for he had earned the better land. Requiem High Mass was celebrated on Saturday and after Mass on Sunday the internment took place in the church grounds. Western People, May 22, 1943

Death of the Rev. P. Vincent Kelly- We regret to announce the death of the Rev. Patrick Vincent Kelly, younger son of Mr. M.D. Kelly, ex. N.T., Newport, and brother of Mr. T. Kelly, N.T., late secretary of the Mayo G.A.A., which took place on Friday last, after a protracted illness, in the thirty first year of his age. He had a brilliant college career, was privileged to have been ordained by his fellow townsman, His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Walsh, Archbishop of Tuam. He was a splendid musician. His family have been the recipients of numerous messages of sympathy, including high Church dignitaries. The internment took place in the Church grounds, Newport, on Sunday. There was solemn Office and Requiem High Mass for the repose of his soul at Newport Church on Saturday. Connacht Tribune, May 22, 1943
